Miami Culinary Tours, South Beach Miami

Fun and Very Flavorful Tour of South Beach

The Facts:

ACTIVITY: Walking Culinary Tour.

TYPE: Outdoors and indoors.Moderate walking, all flat ground, with breaks at each stop.

LOCATION: Miami, Florida

My wife booked this tour after reading some great reviews on Trip Advisor. It did NOT disappoint. Gina was super friendly and you will not be hungry by the end of this tour.  The tour does vary a bit based on the day of the week, the size of the group and the time of year, so where you go might vary a bit from the places we visited.

On this day the meeting point was only a 10 minute walk from our hotel, the Villa Italia. We made 5 food stops and finished the tour with gelato.  We sampled churros, multiple types of empanadas, ceviche, Cuban cuisine, Italian pita pocket, sangria, a beer/fruit drink and simply the most amazing gelato made in the store by a true Italian.  Oh I hope you get to visit Milan Gelateria during your tour, and actually recommend you request to end there.  He’s such a great gentlemen and the gelato is amazing.

This is a GREAT way to not only explore the food of South Beach, but also learn some of the history and architecture of the area. The hotels along Ocean Avenue, including “The Birdcage” are so amazing not only in their art deco designs, but the fact that they are still here today. The varying types of architecture go well beyond Ocean Avenue up along Washington and Espanola Way, it’s just so much fun to walk along these places and hear some of the history behind how it all started and how it’s all preserved today.

And you will NOT be hungry when this tour is over. Our tour started at noon and ran just over 3 hours. It’s a very leisurely paced walking tour with plenty of time to sit and rest at each stop.

If you’re staying in South Beach, I highly recommend making this your very first activity you do when you arrive.  By the time this tour is done, you’ll have a great lay of the land for your lunches and dinners for the rest of your stay. Not only for the places that you’ll sample, but you’ll also see a lot of other potential places to enjoy.  Great great tour.
