We happened upon #00 SHATO while taking in the Riverwalk in Ft. Lauderdale. So glad we found it, one of the best Asian cuisine experiences we've had.

It was a lunch visit and my wife and I opted for a deal for 2 for $49.95 that includes 2 Tapas, 1 Japanese Tapas, 1 Rice Bowl, 1 Classic Roll. Chef Ped was a winner on Iron Chef Thailand and we didn't realize at first, he was the one preparing most of our meal.

For the 2 Tapas we went with the Bang Bang Shrimp and the Wasabi Shrimp cocktail. The Bang Bang Shrimp was pretty good, though really not that spicy. The Wasabi Shrimp was a shrimp cocktail with wasabi in the cocktail sauce. Both of those were honestly average.

Then we got to everything else.

The Tuna Takaki (Japanese Tapas) was simply divine. The freshness of the Tuna, the pairing of the sauce, just melt in your mouth deliciousness.

The Spider Roll was just insanely good. Could be the best sushi roll I've ever had.

Then we finished off with a Salmon Teriyaki Rice Bowl that was cooked to perfection. The cook on the salmon, the glaze, the vegetables in the bowl and the sauce in the bowl was a perfect marriage.

Then Chef Ped surprised us with four freshly cooked doughnuts and a warm caramel type of sauce that pushed the meal over the top.

The Mojito from the bar was very very good, a little on the sweet side, but very good and a huge drink for only $11.

The space is gorgeous and looks like it can be a hopping place at night. From the internet it looks like it used to be a honky tonk country themed bar, but this new incarnation is well suited for the area. Highly recommend this new space for some Asian Fusion in Ft. Lauderdale.
